20 Easy Sustainable Swaps for Spring

Many of us desire to live a more sustainable lifestyle. However making those changes can often be daunting! Here I've compiled a list of small, easy swaps you can make to live more sustainably this spring!

  1. Reusable Coffee Cup

  2. Reusable Water Bottle - loving this for spring

  3. Switch to a shampoo/conditioner bar (my fave)

  4. Switch to bar or refillable hand soap

  5. Switch to a bamboo toothbrush - the average American will throw away over 300 toothbrushes in their lifetime!

6. Recycle - I was intimidated to start recycling because I didn't know exactly what could or couldn't be recycled. It's actually not that hard to find this info by going on your local waste service website - some even have infographics you can print off and post somewhere you can refer back to!

7. Compost! This is a great way to reduce your food waste and garbage. If you can't do this in your backyard, some cities have industrial composting facilities!

8. Switch your paper towels - you can choose to use reusable paper towels, rags, or purchase paper towels made from bamboo or recycled materials!

9. Switch your toilet paper - you can choose to install a bidet or again, purchase plastic free toilet paper made from bamboo or recycled materials.

10. Use a reusable straw! I like to keep one in my purse so it's always available when I'm eating out. There are lots of options such as stainless steel, glass, and silicone.

11.

Switch your dish soap: I've been loving this one but there are refillable options as well!

12. Say goodbye to plastic sponges - this walnut scrubber is awesome but there are many options such as dish brushes or coconut sponges as well!

13. No more plastic hair ties - not only are these kooshoo hair ties plastic free but they are the best ponytail holders you've ever tried!

14. Switch out your one-time-use cotton rounds for reusable

15. Try a menstrual cup or period panties instead of tampons and pads

16. Use Stasher bags instead of single use plastic freezer bags

17. Switch to reusable K cups or, what I did and have been loving, switch to a French press!

18. Swap your takeout lunches or plastic sandwich bags for reusable containers

19. Store your leftovers in these stacking bowls

20. Next time you run out of tinfoil or plastic wrap, don't replace it, buy this instead!

Hopefully this list has encouraged and inspired you to make small changes to live more sustainably this spring! What swap are you most excited to try?
